Air quality data from Sikkim's monitoring network shows pollutant levels within the safe ‘good’ range, confirming clean air statewide.
Sikkim's environmental authorities reported that every location under its air‑quality monitoring network has recorded readings that fall within the “good” category of the national AQI scale.
The data, compiled by the State Pollution Control Board and shared on its public portal, indicates that concentrations of common pollutants such as PM2.5, PM10, nitrogen dioxide and sulphur dioxide remain well below the limits set by the Central Pollution Control Board.
Officials said the results reflect the state’s low‑density population, extensive forest cover and ongoing measures to limit vehicular emissions and promote clean energy, especially in the capital Gangtok and other tourist hubs.
The clean‑air status is expected to benefit public health and tourism, sectors that rely heavily on the state's pristine environment.
