Rajasthan may raise the dearness allowance for its government staff from 60% to 63% ahead of Diwali, following a 3% hike announced by the central government.

The central government has recently approved a 3% increase in the dearness allowance (DA) for all government employees nationwide. This move is aimed at easing the impact of rising inflation on public servants.

In response, the Rajasthan government is reportedly considering a similar hike for its own cadre of employees. If approved, the state DA would rise from the current 60% to 63%, effectively matching the central adjustment.

The proposed increase would translate into higher monthly earnings for thousands of state officials, including clerks, teachers and administrative staff. It is expected to boost morale and help employees cope with the cost of living during the festive season.

The state government has not yet issued a formal notification. Officials say the decision will be finalized in the coming days, with the new allowance likely to be implemented before the Diwali celebrations.
