Delhi Faces Record Pollution Surge in Week After Diwali

Delhi's air quality is set to deteriorate sharply after Diwali, as fireworks and other sources are expected to push pollution levels to dangerous heights. Authorities have warned that the spike could expose residents, especially children and the elderly, to severe respiratory risks. In response, city officials are tightening firecracker bans, limiting vehicle traffic, and encouraging the use of cleaner alternatives. Despite these measures, experts predict that Delhi may still breach hazardous air quality thresholds during the post‑festival week.
