The Arunachal Pradesh government has approved a uniform 3% increase in Dearness Allowance and Dearness Relief for all state employees and pensioners.
The state cabinet of Arunachal Pradesh met on Wednesday and voted to raise the Dearness Allowance (DA) and Dearness Relief (DR) by three percent for its workforce and retirees. The decision applies uniformly to all categories of government employees, including teaching and non‑teaching staff, as well as to pensioners receiving state‑funded benefits.
Officials said the increase is intended to offset the latest rise in consumer prices and to align the state's compensation structure with recent central government adjustments. The revised rates will take effect from the beginning of the next financial quarter, with the finance department tasked with updating payroll systems accordingly.
The move has been welcomed by employee unions, which had been lobbying for a higher cost‑of‑living adjustment. No additional fiscal impact was disclosed, but the state finance ministry indicated that the hike fits within the current budgetary provisions.
The decision reflects a broader trend among Indian states to periodically revise DA and DR to protect the real income of public servants amid inflationary pressures.
