The Viksit Bharat Buildathon announced its ten winners, showcasing projects where a spider‑type robot can locate explosives and an artificial‑intelligence system can suggest medical diagnoses.

The Viksit Bharat Buildathon, a nationwide competition aimed at encouraging young innovators, declared its ten winners on Saturday. Participants, most of whom are school‑age students, presented prototypes ranging from a spider‑shaped robot designed to detect hidden explosives to an artificial‑intelligence application that can suggest possible illnesses based on user‑entered symptoms.

Judges praised the practical relevance of the projects, noting that the bomb‑detecting robot could assist security forces in public spaces, while the AI diagnostic tool could augment primary‑care services in remote areas. The winning entries were selected after a rigorous evaluation of technical feasibility, originality, and potential social impact.

Organisers from the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology highlighted the event as part of the broader ‘Viksit Bharat’ initiative to foster a culture of scientific inquiry among the nation’s youth. The winners will receive cash prizes, mentorship from industry experts, and opportunities to further develop their prototypes in collaboration with research institutions.

The Buildathon, held virtually due to ongoing pandemic constraints, attracted over 2,000 submissions from across India, reflecting growing interest among young students in robotics, AI, and other emerging technologies.
