UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has demanded an apology from SP chief Akhilesh Yadav regarding the 1990 Ayodhya incident, as the latter plans to visit the Ram Janmabhoomi site.

Political tensions in Uttar Pradesh have escalated following a pointed remark by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath directed at Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav. The CM stated that Akhilesh Yadav should offer an apology for the events of 1990 before proceeding with his planned visit for Ram darshan at the Ayodhya site.

The comment comes at a time when Akhilesh Yadav has indicated his intention to visit the Ram Janmabhoomi premises. Yogi Adityanath’s statement highlights the ongoing political friction between the ruling BJP and the opposition SP, particularly concerning historical narratives and religious sentiments in the state.

The 1990 reference alludes to the violent clashes that occurred in Ayodhya during that year, which remain a sensitive topic in Indian politics. By linking the apology to the act of darshan, the Chief Minister has placed a political condition on the opposition leader's religious visit.

This exchange is expected to further polarize public opinion in Uttar Pradesh, a key state in Indian politics, as both leaders engage in rhetorical battles ahead of upcoming political engagements.
