The Board of Control for Cricket in India has shifted the opening One Day International against Sri Lanka from Delhi to Visakhapatnam.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced that the first One Day International of the India‑Sri Lanka series will now be played in Visakhapatnam, replacing the originally planned venue in Delhi. The match will be staged at the Dr. Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy International Cricket Stadium, the city’s premier cricket ground.
The decision was communicated to both cricket boards and the media ahead of the series, confirming Visakhapatnam as the new host city for the series opener. No further details on the reasons for the venue change were disclosed.
Fans in Andhra Pradesh are expected to turn out in large numbers to watch the home side begin the three‑match series against Sri Lanka, while supporters in Delhi will have to wait for the subsequent fixtures scheduled at the capital.
The series, part of the international cricket calendar, will feature three ODIs, with the remaining games slated for other Indian venues as per the original itinerary.
