In a raid at Ujjain Collectorate, a Grade‑3 ADAM officer was seized while accepting a ₹20,000 bribe linked to alleged fraud in the Ujjwala Yojana gas connections.
The Ujjwala Yojana, a central government scheme providing free LPG connections to women, has been under scrutiny for alleged irregularities in gas distribution.
During a routine inspection, the Ujjain Collectorate police commissioner conducted a raid on the ADAM (Administrative Development and Monitoring) office. The officer, a Grade‑3 employee, was caught in the act of accepting a ₹20,000 bribe from an individual seeking a gas connection.
The arrested officer is now in custody, and the police have seized the cash and related documents. Authorities say the incident is part of a broader investigation into possible fraud in the Ujjwala scheme within the district.
Investigators will examine the chain of approvals and will determine whether the bribe was part of a larger network of corruption. The case is expected to be forwarded to the anti-corruption bureau for further action.
