A six‑year‑old girl was allegedly assaulted by a third‑grade student at a government school in Panchkula, leading to the suspension of two teachers and a request for a report from the child‑rights panel.

A six‑year‑old student at a government school in Panchkula, Haryana, was reportedly assaulted by a peer from the third grade. The incident came to light after the victim's parents lodged a complaint with school authorities.

Following an internal inquiry, the school administration suspended two teachers who were on duty at the time of the assault, citing negligence in supervising the children. The suspension has been upheld pending further investigation.

The National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) has taken cognizance of the case and has asked the school and local education officials to submit a detailed report on the incident, the steps taken, and measures to prevent recurrence.

Police have registered a case under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code, and the investigation is ongoing. The school has assured parents that it will strengthen supervision and counseling mechanisms.

Authorities have urged schools across the state to review safety protocols to safeguard young learners from similar incidents.
