In Shivpuri, retired teacher Kalash Soni was deceived by a WhatsApp‑sent APK that compromised his phone, leading to a ₹3.40 lakh transfer from his account without OTP. He has filed a complaint, alleging police delayed FIR filing by 19 days.

A retired teacher in Shivpuri, Madhya Pradesh, lost ₹3.40 lakh after downloading an APK file received via WhatsApp, which compromised his mobile phone. The malware enabled unauthorized access to his banking app, allowing the perpetrator to transfer the money without requiring an OTP.

Kalash Soni, who had been teaching for several decades before retirement, reported that the transfer was completed instantly after he opened the file. He claims the hacker gained control of his device and used his credentials to move the funds to an unknown account.

Soni has lodged a complaint with the local police, accusing them of a 19‑day delay in registering the First Information Report. He says the delay has hindered the investigation and recovery of the stolen amount.

Police officials have yet to release a statement on the case, but the incident has raised concerns about the security risks of downloading unverified applications from messaging platforms in the region.
