The Ministry of Railways has been honoured with the Prime Minister’s Surya Ghar Excellence Award, recognizing its recent achievements.
The Ministry of Railways was announced as the recipient of the Prime Minister’s Surya Ghar Excellence Award, a distinction that highlights outstanding performance in public service. The award was presented by the Prime Minister’s Office in a ceremony attended by senior officials and media representatives.
The Surya Ghar Excellence Award is conferred annually to ministries and departments that demonstrate exceptional progress in efficiency, innovation, and citizen-centric initiatives. Selection criteria include measurable improvements in operational metrics, adoption of sustainable practices, and impact on public welfare.
Officials noted that the railways’ recent push for complete network electrification, introduction of advanced safety systems, and rollout of affordable ticketing solutions were key factors behind the recognition. These steps align with the government’s broader agenda of modernising transport infrastructure while reducing carbon emissions.
A ministry spokesperson said the award reflects the collective effort of railway employees across the country and reinforces the commitment to deliver safe, reliable and green travel for all Indians.
