A police sub‑inspector was attacked by a pet Rottweiler while inspecting a disputed plot in Uttari Mandiri, Patna, and has accused the landowner of arranging the assault.
In the Uttari Mandiri locality of Patna, Sub‑Inspector Vikas Kumar Singh was bitten by a Rottweiler belonging to a landowner while conducting an on‑site verification of a contested property. The incident occurred as the officer was attempting to ascertain the legal status of the plot, which has been the subject of a long‑standing dispute.
Following the bite, Singh lodged a formal complaint alleging that the landowner deliberately sent the dog to harm him, suggesting a premeditated attempt to obstruct the investigation. He stated that the animal was unleashed and directed towards him as he approached the site.
The landowner, however, denied any wrongdoing, claiming that the accusations were unfounded and that the dog had acted on its own. He asserted that there was no instruction given to the animal and that the police officer’s claim was an attempt to shift blame.
Local police officials have opened a case to examine both the assault on the officer and the underlying land dispute. The matter is being investigated under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code concerning assault and intimidation of a public servant.
