Recent murders in Manipur have cast doubt on ongoing peace negotiations among Christian tribal communities, according to local reports.
Recent killings in the northeastern state of Manipur have raised concerns about the fragile peace talks underway among Christian tribal groups in the region. The murders, which occurred in the past week, targeted members of several tribal communities that have been seeking a resolution to long‑standing land and resource disputes.
The peace negotiations, organized by local leaders and supported by state authorities, aim to establish a framework for sharing resources and protecting cultural heritage. The new incidents have disrupted the dialogue, with several delegates expressing fear that the violence could derail the agreement.
State police have increased security around the meeting venues and are investigating the killings. Officials have urged calm and called for a swift resolution to prevent further escalation, while community leaders continue to push for a peaceful settlement.
