NASA astronaut Anil Menon filmed a short video from the International Space Station showing the procedure he used to cast his ballot in the United States midterm elections.
NASA astronaut Anil Menon recorded a brief video aboard the International Space Station on Tuesday, illustrating how he exercised his right to vote in the United States midterm elections. The clip, released by India Today, shows Menon handling a secure electronic ballot kit provided by the Federal Voting Assistance Program.
The voting system allows astronauts to submit their choices via a specially encrypted link that transmits the ballot to a designated election office on Earth. Menon demonstrated the steps, from logging into the portal to confirming his selections, all while floating in micro‑gravity.
NASA officials said the demonstration underscores the agency’s commitment to supporting crew members’ civic duties and highlights the reliability of remote voting technology for personnel stationed in space. It also marks one of the few public displays of the process since the last U.S. election cycle.
