A blast at a fireworks warehouse in Nagaur’s Badli area exposed lapses in regulatory oversight, with the district collector admitting the license had been renewed since 1988 but no physical inspection had taken place.

A fireworks warehouse in the Badli area of Nagaur exploded, drawing attention to shortcomings in the state’s regulatory framework. The incident, which caused significant damage to the storage facility, prompted an immediate response from local authorities.

During a press briefing, the district collector admitted that the warehouse’s license had been renewed annually since 1988, yet a physical inspection of the premises had never been conducted. This oversight has raised questions about the effectiveness of the licensing process.

In light of the findings, a formal inquiry will be launched to examine the roles of the officials responsible for overseeing the warehouse’s operations. The investigation aims to determine whether procedural lapses contributed to the disaster and to recommend corrective measures.

The Rajasthan government has pledged to strengthen safety protocols for fireworks storage facilities across the state, emphasizing stricter inspection schedules and better enforcement of existing regulations.
