The Gwalior bench of the Madhya Pradesh High Court has criticized the administration for allowing school vehicles to be overloaded, urging concrete road safety measures over mere paperwork.
The Gwalior bench of the Madhya Pradesh High Court has issued a stern warning to the state administration regarding the unsafe practice of overloading school vehicles. The court expressed deep concern over reports that children are being packed into school buses and vans like hay, highlighting the severe safety risks involved in such practices.
Justice of the bench criticized the authorities for relying on paper-based compliance rather than ensuring actual safety on the roads. The court emphasized that the administration must demonstrate tangible improvements in vehicle safety and driver conduct, rather than merely submitting reports.
In response to the judicial directive, the administration has taken immediate action against violators. According to recent data, the licenses of 190 drivers have been suspended, and fines have been imposed on 87 vehicles found to be in violation of loading and safety norms.
The court's intervention aims to enforce stricter monitoring of school transport systems in Madhya Pradesh, ensuring that the safety of students is prioritized over convenience or cost-cutting measures by transport operators.
