A case has been filed in Mohali against three employees of an immigration firm after a young man was cheated out of ₹5.60 lakh under the promise of sending him to Canada.
Recently, a young man from Mohali was deceived by an immigration agency that promised to facilitate his migration to Canada. The victim paid a total of ₹5.60 lakh, but no documents or travel arrangements were provided.
The alleged scheme involved the agency’s representatives assuring the youth of a smooth visa process and guaranteed placement in Canada. Despite repeated requests, the promised paperwork never materialized, leaving the victim with a substantial financial loss.
In response, the local police have registered a case against three officials of the immigration company. The investigation is ongoing, and the authorities are probing the extent of the fraud and any possible involvement of other parties.
The incident has prompted the Punjab government to issue a warning to the public about fraudulent immigration schemes and to encourage victims to report such scams promptly.
