The suspect, who has been evading authorities for over two decades, was known to the police as Sarvesh and also used the alias Bajrangdas Baba.
A permanent warrant issued by the court earlier this year authorized the operation and allowed the police to detain the smuggler without further delay.
The arrest is expected to disrupt a long‑running cannabis smuggling network that has operated in the region for years.
