Former Bihar Chief Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav has arrived in Siwan and will appear before the court on Friday to answer charges of violating the Model Code of Conduct during the 2011 assembly elections.
The 15‑year‑old case, which alleges that Lalu Prasad Yadav used a loudspeaker during the 2011 Bihar assembly elections in violation of the Model Code of Conduct, has been revived in Siwan court.
Lalu, accompanied by senior RJD leaders, arrived in Siwan earlier this week and met with the party supremo before heading to the courthouse.
The hearing is scheduled for Friday, where the former chief minister is expected to testify and respond to the charges that the loudspeaker broadcast was an illegal campaign tactic.
The case has drawn attention from political observers, as it could set a precedent for enforcement of electoral conduct rules in Bihar and beyond.
