A consumer commission has ordered a Kolkata-based builder to pay Rs 6.8 lakh to two brothers who had booked a flat in 2020 for Rs 10.4 lakh, only for it to be sold to another buyer.
Two brothers in Kolkata have been awarded compensation after a property developer sold a flat they had booked to another party. The brothers had initially booked the apartment in 2020 for a sum of Rs 10.4 lakh and had paid Rs 5.75 lakh to the builder.
Despite having an agreement in place, the developer proceeded to sell the booked property to a different buyer. Following the developer's actions, the brothers faced difficulties in securing possession of their flat or obtaining a refund for the amount paid.
After exhausting other avenues, the brothers took their case to the consumer commission. The commission found the developer guilty of unfair trade practices and ordered them to pay Rs 6.8 lakh to the aggrieved buyers as compensation.
