J&K Govt Establishes Rent Authorities and Courts Across Union Territory

The Jammu & Kashmir government has announced the establishment of rent authorities and rent courts across the Union Territory. These bodies are intended to handle tenancy complaints and adjudicate disputes over rent and lease agreements. The move is part of an effort to bring uniformity to rent regulation and reduce the backlog of cases in regular courts. Officials said that the rent authorities will be responsible for filing complaints, conducting investigations, and recommending resolutions, while the rent courts will have the power to issue binding orders. The government plans to set up the first rent authority in each district within the next few months.
