Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps said three ships caught fire while navigating a route it deems illegal in the Hormuz Strait.
Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) announced that three vessels were engulfed in flames while transiting a route it labels illegal in the strategically vital Hormuz Strait. The statement, released by the IRGC, did not specify the nationalities of the ships or the exact time of the incident.
The Hormuz Strait, a narrow waterway linking the Persian Gulf with the Gulf of Oman, is a critical chokepoint for global oil shipments. Iran frequently warns that vessels using routes it considers unauthorized could face security actions, underscoring the geopolitical sensitivity of the area.
No further details on casualties, damage extent, or rescue operations have been provided. International maritime observers are monitoring the situation, and the IRGC said it continues to patrol the strait to enforce its navigation rules.
