Indore police have registered a case after the Agriculture Department complained about misleading AI-generated deepfake videos featuring officials' faces circulating on social media.

Indore police have taken legal action against the misuse of artificial intelligence technology to create deceptive content. An FIR has been registered at Pandrinarayan Police Station following a formal complaint filed by the Agriculture Department. The complaint highlights the circulation of videos on social media platforms that use deepfake technology to mimic the faces of government officials in contexts unrelated to their actual duties.

The incident marks a significant case involving the manipulation of digital media for misinformation. The Agriculture Department reported that these videos were designed to mislead the public by associating officials with false statements or actions. Upon receiving the complaint, the local police immediately initiated the legal process to address the cybercrime aspect of the incident.

Currently, the police are conducting a thorough technical examination of the digital evidence. Investigators are analyzing the viral videos and associated digital footprints to trace the origin of the content and identify the individuals responsible for creating and spreading the deepfakes. The case underscores the growing challenge posed by AI-generated misinformation in the digital space.
