Two women were arrested in Indore for defrauding a jeweller by selling fake gold chains, with police recovering three genuine chains and investigating related cases.

In the Tukoganj police station area of Indore, authorities detained two women suspected of fraud. The suspects allegedly sold gold chains that were merely polished fake pieces to a local jeweller, defrauding the shop of approximately ₹2 lakh worth of genuine gold.

During the arrest, police seized three authentic gold chains from the suspects’ possession. The recovered items are expected to aid in establishing the extent of the scam.

Investigators are probing other incidents that may be connected to the same fraud ring. The police have urged anyone with information about similar schemes to come forward.

The case highlights the growing prevalence of counterfeit jewellery fraud in the region.
