A government survey shows the corporate manufacturing sector’s gross value added grew 9.28% in FY25, with Maharashtra, Gujarat, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and Uttar Pradesh as the top contributors.
The Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation released a survey indicating that the gross value added (GVA) of India’s corporate manufacturing sector expanded by 9.28% in the fiscal year 2024-25. The data reflects a robust rebound in industrial output after a period of slower growth.
The report identified five states that together accounted for the largest share of the increase: Maharashtra, Gujarat, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and Uttar Pradesh. These regions collectively contributed the bulk of the sector’s added value, underscoring their pivotal role in the country’s manufacturing landscape.
Analysts view the upward trend as a positive signal for the broader economy, suggesting that higher manufacturing GVA could translate into stronger employment prospects and increased export potential in the coming years.
