A fabricated Supreme Court order offering a ₹5,100 Diwali bonus spread widely on social media, prompting police to register a case for circulating false information.

A counterfeit order purportedly issued by the Supreme Court, claiming that every employee would receive a ₹5,100 Diwali bonus, began circulating on various social media platforms earlier this week. The document, which mimicked the court's official format and seal, was shared thousands of times, prompting concerns about misinformation.

Law enforcement agencies in Delhi have opened an investigation and registered a formal case under sections dealing with the spread of false information and forgery. Officials warned that creating or disseminating fake judicial orders is a punishable offense and urged the public to report similar content.

The Supreme Court's spokesperson later clarified that no such order had been issued and that the court does not prescribe any Diwali bonus. Citizens were advised to verify official communications before sharing them, especially during the festive season when scams tend to rise.
