Police in Betul, Madhya Pradesh, have arrested a man posing as a doctor for allegedly defrauding patients' families online. The suspect was apprehended by Kotwali Police after complaints regarding fraudulent medical billing surfaced.
The investigation revealed that the accused promised better treatment for normal deliveries and C-sections to lure victims into paying money online. This modus operandi was used to extract funds from families seeking medical assistance for childbirth.
During questioning, the suspect disclosed that he had engaged in similar fraudulent activities in other major cities of the state. Authorities confirmed that cases of such medical fraud have also emerged in Bhopal and Indore.
The police are currently conducting a detailed inquiry to trace the full extent of the financial loss and identify all potential victims associated with this online scam network.
