As Dhanteras 2026 arrives, devotees are seeking the specific auspicious timings for purchasing gold, silver, and traditional items like brooms to invite prosperity.
The Hindu festival of Dhanteras, considered the first day of the Diwali celebrations, is observed today. It is a significant day for Hindus who believe that purchasing precious metals and household items on this day brings wealth and good fortune to their homes.
According to traditional beliefs, buying gold and silver on Dhanteras is not just a commercial transaction but a ritual act. Devotees often consult panchangs to determine the exact 'Shubh Muhurat' or auspicious time window for making these purchases to maximize their spiritual and financial benefits.
In addition to precious metals, the purchase of a broom is a common tradition associated with this day. It is believed that buying a broom on Dhanteras symbolizes the sweeping away of bad luck and the welcoming of prosperity. Many households also purchase utensils and other new items during this period.
As the day progresses, markets and jewelry stores across India see a surge in activity. People are eager to finalize their purchases within the recommended auspicious hours, ensuring that their rituals align with astrological guidelines for the year.
