A scheduled cricket game in Delhi was moved to another ground after air‑quality indices surged to hazardous levels, officials said.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced that the upcoming match originally slated for Delhi will be played at an alternate venue due to a sudden rise in air‑pollution levels. Monitoring agencies reported that the Air Quality Index (AQI) in the capital crossed the hazardous threshold, prompting concerns for player safety and spectator health.
Officials consulted environmental experts and medical advisers before deciding to relocate the fixture. The decision aligns with recent guidelines urging the postponement or movement of outdoor events when AQI exceeds 300.
The new venue, yet to be disclosed, will host the match on the same date and time, ensuring the tournament schedule remains intact. Fans who had booked tickets for the Delhi stadium are being offered refunds or transfers to the new location.
