The Ministry of Education has approved a grant of Rs 50 crore to develop a new campus of Central University of Himachal Pradesh at Dehra.
The central government, through the Ministry of Education, has sanctioned a funding package of Rs 50 crore for the establishment of a new campus of Central University of Himachal Pradesh in Dehra. The allocation is part of the university's expansion plan aimed at increasing its academic footprint in the state.
The Dehra campus is slated to be built on a designated plot in the district, with plans to house classrooms, laboratories, residential facilities for faculty and students, and a library. Project officials expect the construction to commence within the next few months, targeting operational readiness by the 2027 academic session.
State officials highlighted that the new campus will broaden access to higher education for students from the hilly regions of Himachal Pradesh, reducing the need for long-distance travel. The investment is also projected to generate local employment during the construction phase and stimulate ancillary services once the campus becomes functional.
The university’s governing council will oversee the utilization of the funds, ensuring compliance with central guidelines and timely completion of infrastructure milestones. Regular progress reports will be submitted to the Ministry of Education for audit and review.
