Broadcaster CBS has signed a fresh agreement to air the Tony Awards as the theatre celebration approaches its 80th year.
The Tony Awards organization announced that its partnership with CBS has been renewed, ensuring the prestigious theatre ceremony will continue to be televised on the network. The extension comes as the awards prepare to mark their 80th anniversary, a milestone that highlights eight decades of Broadway excellence.
CBS, which has been the longtime home of the ceremony, will once again provide live coverage, bringing the performances, speeches and winners to a national audience. Industry observers note that the continuity of the broadcast helps maintain the awards' visibility and supports the broader promotion of live theatre across the United States.
The renewal underscores the mutual benefit for both parties: the Tony Awards gain a reliable platform with a wide reach, while CBS retains a marquee cultural event that draws viewers interested in the arts. As the 80th edition approaches, anticipation is building among producers, performers and fans for what promises to be a landmark celebration of theatrical achievement.
