The blackbuck, a species absent for five decades, is set to return to the Gomarda Wildlife Sanctuary in Chhattisgarh, marking a significant milestone for local biodiversity.
The Gomarda Wildlife Sanctuary in Chhattisgarh is poised to witness a historic ecological turnaround. The blackbuck, a native antelope species, is scheduled to return to the sanctuary after being absent for approximately five decades.
This reintroduction effort aims to restore a key element of the local fauna that had vanished from the region for half a century. The return of the blackbuck is expected to enhance the biodiversity of the sanctuary, which serves as a critical habitat for various other wildlife species.
Conservationists view this development as a positive step toward balancing the ecosystem in the area. The successful reintroduction will also serve as a model for similar conservation initiatives in other parts of the country.
The sanctuary authorities are preparing for the arrival of the animals, ensuring that the habitat is suitable to support their long-term survival and reproduction.
