A BJP legislator claimed that a Pakistan‑based organization threatened to kill him, invoking his descent from Maharana Pratap.
A member of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) serving as a legislator has publicly alleged that a group based in Pakistan threatened his life. The MLA, who identified himself as a descendant of the historic Rajput ruler Maharana Pratap, said the intimidation was aimed at curbing his political activities.
According to the legislator, the threat was conveyed through a phone call in which the callers warned that they would act against him because of his political stance and his lineage. He did not disclose the name of the organization but described it as a Pakistan‑based extremist group.
The MLA has lodged a formal complaint with local police and has also informed senior officials of the state government. Security measures have been heightened around his residence and office pending a thorough investigation.
Law enforcement agencies have begun probing the claim, coordinating with central intelligence bodies to verify the source of the threat. No arrests have been reported so far, and officials have urged the public to await official findings before drawing conclusions.
