Bhopal's sanitation system collapsed on Thursday due to a strike by sanitation workers, leaving over 400 garbage trucks idle. In Kotra, local traders took it upon themselves to manage waste collection.

The city of Bhopal faced a significant disruption in its municipal services on Thursday following a strike by sanitation workers. The industrial action led to a complete standstill in waste management operations, severely affecting the cleanliness of the capital city.

According to reports, more than 400 garbage collection vehicles were left idle across various zones of the city. This halt in operations resulted in the accumulation of waste in public areas, causing inconvenience to residents and affecting the overall hygiene of Bhopal.

In the absence of municipal staff, the situation in the Kotra market area became particularly critical. Local traders and shopkeepers in Kotra stepped in to take charge of the situation. They organized themselves to manually clean their immediate surroundings to prevent the area from becoming unsanitary.

The strike has highlighted the vulnerability of the city's waste management infrastructure to labor disputes. While the municipal authorities have not yet issued a detailed statement on the resolution, the immediate impact on daily life remains evident across Bhopal.
