The body of missing Alwar resident Samudra Singh Gurjar, known as ‘AgniVeer’, was recovered from the flood‑ravaged Dibang Valley in Arunachal Pradesh about 80 days after he disappeared, with DNA tests confirming his identity.
On 14 August, a sudden cloudburst triggered flash floods in the Dibang Valley of Arunachal Pradesh, sweeping away villages and leaving several people missing. Among those unaccounted for was Samudra Singh Gurjar, a resident of Alwar, Rajasthan, who was popularly referred to as “AgniVeer”.
After an exhaustive search lasting nearly three months, officials recovered a human body from the debris in the valley. Subsequent DNA analysis matched the remains with samples provided by Gurjar’s family, confirming that the recovered body belonged to the missing Alwar native.
The discovery brings closure to a grieving family that had been waiting for his return for over two months. Local authorities have recorded the incident as a flood‑related casualty and continue to assess the broader impact of the August floods in the region.
