The Indian National Congress has suspended 60 of its youth wing leaders for not attending Rahul Gandhi's Ramlila rally in Lucknow, citing breach of party discipline.

The Indian National Congress (INC) announced the suspension of 60 leaders from its Youth Congress wing after they failed to attend Rahul Gandhi’s Ramlila rally held in Lucknow on March 15. The rally, part of the party’s campaign to mobilise support ahead of the upcoming elections, saw a large turnout of party workers and supporters.

Party officials said the leaders’ absence violated the party’s code of conduct and was a direct breach of the discipline expected from members of the youth wing. The suspensions are effective immediately and will remain in place until the leaders complete a disciplinary process.

In a statement, the INC’s national office reiterated its commitment to maintaining unity and discipline within the party ranks. It also warned that any further lapses would lead to stricter penalties.

The move comes at a time when the Congress is preparing for a series of rallies across the country. The party’s leadership hopes the disciplinary action will deter similar incidents and reinforce the importance of collective participation in party events.
